Modular Monolith

Imagine:

React Application │ ├── Expenses ├── Loans ├── Reports ├── Dashboard └── Users

Each feature has boundaries.

Expenses

├── components

├── hooks

├── api

└── types

Loans

├── components

├── hooks

├── api

└── types

But everything still builds and deploys together.

That's essentially a: modular Monolith
And this is often a very good default architecture.

because clear boundaries

  • feature ownership

  • easier testing

  • easier development

  • simpler deployment

  • less infrastructure complexity

without immediately introducing Micro Frontends.
